Dr. Rod J. Rohrich, a renowned plastic surgeon, educator, author, and philanthropist, has made significant contributions to cosmetic and reconstructive surgery throughout his illustrious career. He has provided exceptional care through his clinical practice, trained numerous surgeons in plastic surgery and subspecialty fellowships, and collaborated globally to advance the field. His dedication extends to supporting his community and profession through charitable work.
Dr. Rohrich is particularly noted for his role as chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center from 1991 to 2014. Under his leadership, the department became renowned as the leading plastic surgery program globally, earning the top residency program designation from U.S. News & World Report in 2014. He was honored with the first Crystal Charity Ball Distinguished Chair and the Betty and Warren Woodward Chair in Plastic Surgery. Currently, as a Distinguished Teaching Professor, Dr. Rohrich trains plastic surgery residents and has been recognized with an award named in his honor: the Rod J. Rohrich MD Distinguished Professorship in Wound Healing and Plastic Surgery. He continues to see patients daily at UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Outpatient Building and the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute.
